Skate Toronto offers it's Learn to Skate, Pre Star and Figure Skating programs all year round including the the summer season. Every skating program lasts for the entire season. For more information about our skating programs and lessons please read below:

Learn to Skate and Pre Star Programs

Learn to Skate Toronto

The Skate Toronto's Learn to Skate program is designed to give skaters of all ages fundamental skating skills for recreational skating, hockey and figure skating. Our Learn to Skate program follows the nationally standardized learn to skate system in Canada has 6 levels.

  • Learn to Skate - Skaters are taught the basics of skating from the beginning where they learn to walk, glide, stop and turn on the ice on their own. This program teaches skaters skating skills for recreational skating, figure skating, power skating, speed skating and hockey.
  • Pre Star - This program is for skaters that can skate on their own are interested in learning figure skating and have not yet passed Level 6. Skaters learn skating skills for figure skating and very basic figure skating elements are introduced.

Junior Figure Skating Program

The Junior and Intermediate Figure Skating programs cover all of the required elements for the Preliminary Free Skate test. There are a total of six Free Skate levels that skaters are taught which are divided into two programs.

  • Pre Star - Skaters can register in the Junior Figure Skating program to complete their Pre Star Level 6. Once skaters have completed Level 6 they will transition to learning the elements in the Free Skate levels.
  • FreeSkate I II & III - During the Junior Figure Skating program skaters learn single rotation figure skating jumps, spins, forwards and backwards stroking, edges and field movements.

Intermediate Figure Skating Program

  • FreeSkate VI V & VI - During the Intermediate Figure Skating program skaters learn the second half of the Preliminary Free Skate elements. This includes all of the types of jumps, spins, field movements and sequences.
  • Solo Preparation - Once skaters have completed the FreeSkate levels they can start working on their solo to be used for tests and competitions if they are interested.

Glittering Stars Figure Skating Program

The Skate Toronto Glittering Stars figure skating program is for skaters that have completed the Intermediate Figure Skating program or that are in Secondary School. This program offers skaters several options including competitive, recreational and educational figure skating activities.

  • Grades 9 & 10 - Skaters can choose between competitive and recreational figure skating. Skaters have the opportunity work on their solo for tests and competitions. Skaters can learn multi-rotational jumps and more complex spins.
  • Grades 11 & 12 - Skaters can choose to advance their skating, can receive community service hours and be assistant coaches while working towards their coaching certification.
